I was furious with dA for a while about their policies regarding "fanart," but it looks like there have been some changes in policy. I wish I could say there was a change in management, because an awful lot of dAers (friends of mine and myself, too) got treated pretty crappy, but I don't know about that for sure.

Supposedly dolls are still meant to be placed in Scrapbooks, because dA claims that they're prepackaged and no effort goes into them. Uh, excuse me? Are you telling me my hours spent working on such fan senshi as Sailor NepMoon and "Chibiusa's worst nightmare!?" aren't EFFORT? I suppose I can understand classifying some of them under Scraps (which sucks, because I don't think most people watch for Scraps when they watch a devuser, but hey, I could be wrong!), but not all of them. Especially since there's apparently a new category: Desktop & Customizations > Dolls > Tooled > Adopted Base, which applies perfectly to my edits of dolls made by *SailorXv2!

Alas, I was trying to add in all my generated senshi images when it suddenly spit out an error: it only accepts GIFs! What!? I wasn't under the impression ALL of my Fan Senshi were GIF, up to that point, and that's why I didn't get an error, but now I can't seem to move the remaining dolls into their proper (I feel) category because of it. According to the dA FAQ, only GIFs can go in this category, which makes me go BWUH?

Just because it's a doll doesn't mean it's straight from the Candybar or whatever. Edits are sometimes intensive and create files where a GIF isn't a good file type! Personally, I prefer to use PNG, but that's not allowed. It's an idiotic policy and I'm not going to convert all my files over and lose color and such just because dA's got some dumb, unstated reason why only that file type is allowed for that gallery. I'll leave the items where they are, or possibly relocate them to Scraps, at best (even though some of them are genuine "deviations," I think).
